What is Assisted Living?

Assisted living is a safe and responsible option for any elderly individual interested in maintaining their independence with specialized assistance for daily activities all while living in a protected group housing facility.

There are many kinds of assisted living homes, many with varying levels of care. Assisted living offers a vast range of living spaces, from private to shared rooms, for those who need any day-to-day care.

Assisted Living now consists of many choices in terms of facility size- from large, apartment-like buildings with conveniences included to smaller enduring houses with around 6 residents. All options offer basic support while others offer staff medical care.

What is a Residential Care Home?

Residential Care homes, also known as board and care homes or care homes, offer personalized services to small groups of adults. They provide lodging, meal services and assistance with daily living activities.

Unlike nursing homes, care homes are non-medical, and are designed to enhance an enjoyable lifestyle. Services are dependent upon the residents’ individual needs with a wide variety of services.

Assisted living facilities serve adults who desire to transition from home or those who discharge from a nursing home facility, rehabilitation center or hospital.

Criteria for assistance is based on the resident’s ability to perform select daily living skills activities and their physical ability. What Does A Residential Care Home Provide?

1. Safety And Security.

The resident community experience will help to alleviate the pressures of living alone. Assisted living facilities are designed with safety in mind, and qualified personnel are on duty to address any need or situation of a resident.

2. Personal Living Experience.

Residents interact with other residents and can establish a comfortable routine while still experiencing a personal home experience. Community involvement means friends and friends keep you feeling young and happy. An active social life is fundamental to health and well being.

3. Lifestyle Enhancement

Activities encourage physical and mental wellness. Advanced nutrition services combined with contemporary wellness programs greatly increase overall physical and mental health.

4. Assistance And Support

Whether a resident needs help with daily living activities or simply feel isolated and alone, our fully trained staff will be there for assistance. Each day residents may be greeted by a caregiver who will aid with daily living skill needs of bathing, dressing, grooming and medication monitoring.

Visitation Policy

  • Visitation is allowed in areas residents rooms and/or common areas.
  • In-person visitations are allowed in all of the following circumstances but not limited to, unless the resident, client, or patient objects:
      • End-of-life situations;
      • A resident, client, or patient who was living with family before being admitted to the provider’s care is struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support.
      • The resident, client, or patient is making one or more major medical decisions.
      • A resident, client, or patient is experiencing emotional distress or grieving the loss of a friend or family member who recently died;
      • A resident, client, or patient needs cueing or encouragement to eat or drink which was previously provided by a family member or caregiver;
      • A resident, client, or patient who used to talk and interact with others is seldom speaking.
  • A record of all visitors should be kept.
  • All visitors should be screened for the presence of fever or other signs of infection prior to entering the facility. Anyone with a fever of 100.0F will denied entry and sent home.
  • Each facility should have clear signage to encourage sanitary measures like frequent hand washing while inside the facility.
  • Visitors should wash hands or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with 60–95% alcohol before and after entry.
  • Administrator is responsible for staff adherence to visitation policies and procedures.
  • Unrestricted private communication, including receiving and sending unopened correspondence, access to a telephone, and visiting with any person of his or her choice, at any time between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. at a minimum is allowed. Upon request, the facility will make provisions to extend visiting hours for caregivers and out-of-town guests, and in other similar situations.
